M.A. RAPP, carriage and buggy manufacturer, Ladoga. One of the great improvements of Ladoga may be mentioned that of the Ladoga carriage and wagon manufactory, of which the proprietor and owner (M.A. Rapp) is a wide awake and energetic business man, having come to Ladoga in 1869 where he has since been engaged in the manufacture of carriages and light spring wagons. He not only makes the business successful financially, but gives general satisfaction to his many customers. He gives employment to 8 and 10 workmen. He is a native of Rockbridge County, Virginia and came West in 1859 first locating in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana where he worked as a journeyman for some time. He is a member of the Masons, Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias. He married in 1860, Emma GILMORE of Putnam Co, Indiana. - transcribed by kbz
